HISTORY*
At April 12, 2009 meeting, the RAGG board of directors voted unanamously to dissolve. Dissolution
paperwork has ebbn filed with the Franchise Tax Board, CA Attorney
General, and CA Secretary of State. Dissolution is completed. If you have any questions: email Rachel, treasurer.
RAGG was a California qualified
non-profit organization #680482261, founded 2001 in Hayfork, CA.
MISSION STATEMENT:
RAGG supports, advances, and promotes artistic awareness, participation, and
expression in all areas of the Arts - visual, literary, and performing. RAGG is
especially committed to mentoring young people in our community and acquainting
them with new outlets to improve and enjoy their creative talents.
RAGG hopes to sponsor workshops for
artists and crafters of all ages, exhibits of local art works, craft shows,
concerts, recitals and jam sessions, as well as other events in conjunction with
like minded organizations.
HISTORY OF RAGG EVENTS:
2009
- Jan 2009 - RAGG
meeting at Hayfork High School. At this meeting, it was decide to not
continue with shifting the non-profit over to Trinity Art Cycle and
instead to make steps towards dissolving the non-profit corporation.
- Feb 9, 2009 - RAGG meeting at Hayfork High School at 3:30pm. Discussion of dissolution.
- March 9, 2009 - RAGG meeting at Hayfork High School at 3:30pm. Discussion of dissolution.
- April 12, 2009 - RAGG meeting at Hayfork High School at 3:30pm. Unanamous vote for dissolution. Filed preliminary paperwork.
- May - July, 2009 - Final paperwork filed and dissolution is completed.
2008
~ Feb 13, 2008: RAGG meeting at Northern Delights Coffeehouse. January meeting cancelled due to snow.
- March 12, 2008: RAGG meeting at Northern Delights Coffeehouse.
- April 16, 2008: RAGG meeting at Northern Delights Coffeehouse.
- May 21, 2008 - RAGG meeting at Northern Delights Coffeehouse.
- June 18, 2008 - RAGG meeting at home of Joy Nelson. Made signs for Open Studios Tour.
- June 21, 2008: First Annual Hayfork Open Studios Self-Guided Tour. Tour maps and coupons for Hayfork businesses were available at Feed Store in Post Office Square. Participants included: Tim & Sue Ford - Stone Tops
(furniture and useful objects made of stone and wood, Highway 3,
Peanut); Loren & Lisa - Head Change Arts - glass blowers (jewelry and
ornamental items
made of glass, glass working demonstrations, downtown Hayfork);
Angenette Taft - quilters workroom (long-arm quilting machine
demonstrations, downtown Hayfork);
Susie Rose (acrylic painting,off Big Creek Road), and Sunshine Gardens
(quilts by Althea Hubbard, downtown Hayfork). Some studios offered light refreshments provided by RAGG.
- July 9, 2008: RAGG meeting at Northern Delights Coffeehouse.
- August 12, 2008: RAGG meeting at Northern Delights Coffeehouse.
- September 8, 2008: RAGG meeting at Art room at Hayfork High School. October meeting cancelled due to lack of agenda items.
- November 10, 2008: RAGG meeting at Art room at Hayfork High School.
All RAGG board members attended, as well as 4 persons from Trinity
ArtCycle, and 2 additional guests. It was unanamously decided to shift
the non-profit over to Trinity ArtCycle. To that end, Shirley Cole
resigned as a board member, and 3 new board members were voted in,
creating a full board. New board members are Kimberly Piazza, Paula
Masterman, and SuZan Laberteaux. Kimberly has our bylaws and articles
of incorporation to review, for potential changes to fit their
organization.
- Dec 2008 - RAGG meeting at Hayfork High School.
2007
~ Nov 14, 2007: RAGG Annual Meeting (after 1 year hiatus). Joy Nelson has moved back to Hayfork, and meeting was at her house. ~ Dec 12, 2007: RAGG meeting at Northern Delights. Joy, Rachel and Shirley attended. Sue Ford was a guest.
2006
~ July 6, 2006: First meeting after a year's hiatus was held at Enchanted
Florist. 3 guests attended.
~ August - November 2006: Monthly meetings at various locations in Hayfork. At
November 2007 meeting, it was decided to postpone future RAGG meetings for up to
one year, meeting again no later than November 2007.
2005
~ February 2005: Due to various reasons, RAGG board of directors decided NOT to
"merge" with TCACA. RAGG passed a resolution to this effect. TCACA
board was informed at their next meeting. Rachel
continued to attend TCACA meetings for several more months.
~ June 2005: RAGG a sponsor of 2nd Annual "our Town Spring Crafts Festival in Post Office Square.
~ June 19, 2005: It was voted to put monthly meetings on hold (for up to 1
year), due to lack of participation. There will be annual meeting no later than
July 2006
~ December 2005: RAGG a sponsor of 3rd Annual "Our Town" Christmas
Crafts Festival at Hayfork Elementary School This was a 2-day event.
2004
~ May 1, 2004: Gourmet burrito sale at Hayfork Community Center Spring Fling
& Rummage Sale.
~ June 6, 2004: RAGG a sponsor of 1st Annual "Our Town" Spring Crafts Festival in
Post Office Square.
~ July 19, 2004: Meeting and discussion with newly formed Trinity County Arts Council
Association in regards to a possible "merger" of 2 organizations, to
create one non-profit Arts Council serving all of Trinity county. Emphasis to be
placed on continuing previous services, especially working with children and youth,
and on making it a truly countywide arts council.
TCAC stopped being a county organization on June 30, 2004. TCACA took it's place, until they
could reform as a non-profit.
~ August 2, 2004: RAGG passed a resolution to
amend bylaws and do the paperwork involved in merging with TCACA. Subsequent non-profit corporation
would adopt the name of “Trinity
County Arts Council” (TCAC). RAGG name would be used to refer to former
RAGG board, which would become a Hayfork regional sub-committee of TCAC, as a model for future
regional sub-committees.
~ December 2004: RAGG a sponsor of 2nd Annual "Our Town"
Christmas Crafts Festival at Critser Hall at Hayfork Elementary School.
~ December 2004: RAGG made a donation to Hayfork Scholarship Foundation.

~ Spring 2003: Published and distributed "RAGGTimes" newsletter.
~ May 3, 2003: Gourmet burrito sale at Hayfork Community Center Spring Fling

~ May 11, 2003: RAGG table at Salt Creek Nursery's Mother's
Day Celebration. Sold Jody Loghry's artwork. Proceeds went to Jody's college
fund. She is an aspiring art student at College of Redwoods.
~ August 14, 2003: RAGG sponsored Kids Art in the Park free event with fish
printing, sidewalk chalk art contest, watermelon seed spitting contest, and
refreshments.
~ August 22 - 24, 2003: RAGG booth at Trinity County Fair.
~ October 6, 2003: RAGG made a donation to sponsor the Hay! Film Festival at
Hayfork High School, a project of Hayfork High School student, Matt Johansing.
~ October 18, 2003: Gourmet burrito sale at Hayfork Community Center Fall
Fling & Rummage Sale.
~ November 23, 2003: RAGG a sponsor of 1st Annual "Our Town" Christmas Crafts Fair
in Post Office Square.
~ November 28 - December 30, 2003: RAGG coordinated Fine Art exhibit by
RAGG artists at Trinity County
Arts Council 2nd Annual Holiday Fine Art & Gift Show at Main Street
Gallery in Weaverville.
~ December 12, 2003: RAGG made a donation to Hayfork Scholarship Foundation.
2002
~ January 11, 2002: RAGG Drop-in & Potluck at VFW Hall in Hayfork. Sharing and display of
artworks.
~ April 27, 2002: RAGG Spring Social & Potluck at VFW Hall. Live music and
belly dancing. Sharing and display of artworks.
~ May 12, 2002: RAGG table at Salt Creek Nursery Mother's
Day Celebration. Sold Fimo artwork and food & refreshments.
~ July 20, 2002: RAGG sponsored free Fimo workshop at Hayfork High School.
~ August 23-25, 2002: RAGG booth at Trinity County Fair.
~ November 16, 2002: Reception & potluck for RAGG artists and art at
Treasure Chest in Hayfork.
~ November 29 - December 31, 2002: RAGG coordinated a Fine Art exhibit by RAGG
artists at Trinity County Arts
Council Grand Opening of Main Street Gallery in
Weaverville. We were first to exhibit in their new gallery space on Main
Street.
2001
~ Spring 2001: Began regular meetings. Adopted by-laws and Articles of
Incorporation.
~ May 13, 2001: RAGG table at Salt Creek Nursery's Mother's Day Celebration.
~ July 2001: Achieved California 501(c)3 non-profit corporation status.
~ August 24-26, 2001: RAGG booth at Trinity County Fair. Introduced RAGG,
displayed artworks, and collected contact info from interested persons.
~ October 8, 2001: Public meeting at Hayfork High School Library to introduce RAGG
and to connect with interested persons and potential board members.
~ November 2, 2001: RAGG Drop-in & Potluck at Roderick Senior Center. Live
music and sharing and display of artworks and handmade musical instruments.
~ Winter 2001: RAGG coordinated with Ruthie Meigs to hold Hyampom Party for High School
Seniors & Auction of Youth Art.
