SECTION.) COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE LUNCHEON/SOUP KITCHEN at Douglas City Fire Hall 11:30am-1pm weekly on Tuesdays. Four Trinity County churches have joined forces (St. Patrick's Catholic, Trinity Congregational, First Baptist Weaverville, and Church of Nazarene) to provide food and drinks for the needy. Diners may take meal home for later and volunteers will deliver to sick, elderly, and homebound. Carol Arthur extends an invitation for everyone to come and enjoy the meals. Hayfork Cemetery Association needs help on a particular project that needs to be done very quickly. Members of the Association have spent thousands of hours beautifying Hayfork cemetery. At this time, there is a need to re-seed the grounds. They can buy seed for a few hundred dollars, but it would also entail countless more VOLUNTEER hours to clean, weed, rake, level existing grounds in preparation for seed. They have a proposal for hydro-seeding the grounds. While this will be more costly initially, it does eliminate the need for more man-hours, and will be more cost-effective in the long run. "At this time they are seeking donations to over-seed the old section by hydro-seeding at a quoted price of $2500. They do have approximately 100 lbs of seed that can be used for filling in areas that may require additional seeding after hydro-seeding is completed. The advantage of hydro-seeding is that it can be done over existing area without weeding, fertilizing, and covering with a topper, saving many hours of labor that would be required in a more traditional manner. Winter is an ideal time and watering could be put off until spring start up of the watering system. Their fund raising efforts to date have been paying water costs and some expenses incurred for basic operational costs (electricity, area light, garbage, maintenance)." Let's help them raise this money, so they don't have to spend so many man-hours down there. Please send any donations to: Hayfork Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 1803, Hayfork Ca 96041. 12/07.
