HAYFORK - CHILDREN'S GARDEN EDUCATION FIELD TRIP at Hayfork Children's Garden at TC Fairgrounds (adjacent to grandstand near race track) 10am-11am. Children 5 years old and younger and families are invited to participate. A variety of activities for preschool children and their families provides an opportunity to learn about health and nutrition, to actively participate in growing their own garden, and to gain first-hand sensory experiences of the natural world. HAYFORK: TRINITY SOUP KITCHEN provides a hot meal weekly on Mondays 11am-2pm at Solid Rock Christian Fellowship (corner of Tule Creek Road & Highway 3). There are plenty of opportunities to help out with cash or food donations, food preparation or serving. Donations are tax-deductible. HAYFORK - HATHA YOGA CLASS at Yoga Balance at 11am. A basic class that included standing & sitting postures with emphasis on relieving sciatic pain, creating better range of motion throughout the body, increasing breath capacity and experiencing relaxation. Flexibility not required. Beginners welcome. Mats, bolsters, and blocks are provided. Wear loose, comfortable clothing. $6/class, discount cards and monthly memberships (unlimited classes) available. UPDATED! HAYFORK - SENIORS CHAIR YOGA CLASS at Roderick Senior Center at 11:30am. This is a gentle yoga class. Easy enough for seniors and persons who have had an injury, yet perfect for strengthening bones, muscles, and increasing breath capacity. Chairs and the wall are used for stretching support. DOUGLAS CITY - FREE COMMUNITY ASSISTANCE LUNCHEON/SOUP KITCHEN at DC Fire Hall 1am-1:15pm. Four Trinity County churches have joined forces (St. Patrick's Catholic, Trinity Congregational, First Baptist Weaverville, and Church of Nazarene) to provide food and drinks for the needy. Diners may take meal home for later and volunteers will deliver to sick, elderly, and homebound. Carol Arthur extends an invitation for everyone to come and enjoy the meals. Cash or food donations to support the program can be directed to Carol Arthur at 623-3927. Other churches that wish to become involved would be welcomed with open arms.

WEAVERVILLE - COMMUNITY BAND REHEARSAL at Weaverville Elementary School music room at 6pm. Community band is now offered as part of Shasta College outreach program in Weaverville. The course, Music 302, Symphonic Band for Seniors is open to musicians of all ages. Band members must have at least one year's experience on their instrument and be able to read music. LEWISTON - LEWISTON GUN CLUB conducts various types of shooting events every weekend from APRIL - SEPT. All events start at 9am and take place at Lewiston Gun Club's Cooper Gulch Range, located approximately 3 miles North of Lewiston on Trinity Dam Blvd. Look for signs on event days. All events are open to public. Their season 2006 schedule repeated each month as follows: 1st Saturday - .17 and .22 Rimfire Fly Shoot; 2nd Saturday - 3-Gun Bullseye Handgun Shoot; 3rd Saturday - Centerfire Rifle Shoot (no event in September); 4th Saturday - Prize Trap Shoot. 1st 3 Saturdays - Trap Practice. Adult fee: $2.50 per round, but due to sponsorship by Long's Drug of Weaverville, Juniors (12-16) shoot free when accompanied by a parent. Prizes go to day's 2 high individual round shooters.
