Trinity County Arts Council hired Marie Gold as the new
manager for Main Street Gallery.
Gold's experience includes ownership of a
gallery in Manitou Springs, Colorado, and membership in art leagues of
Tahoe, CA
and Corvalis, Oregon. She has worked with the Red Brick Players Theatre
in
Colorado. She has been active as an artist, student, and Main
Street
Gallery volunteer during past 4 years and looks forward to working with
Arts Council "as we continue to support the creativity of our Trinity
County
artists and bring our communities together through art." Other changes
are
afoot with the Trinity County Arts Council. With the resignation of
Executive
Director Susan Holthaus, the decision has been made to divide up the
duties,
said Arts Council President, Gay Butler. Gay is currently the acting Executive
Director for TCAC.
The Arts Council has an online interactive
Arts Calendar!
You can find all the latest info on arts related events happening in
and around Trinity County. They are excited about this new opportunity
to connect all of the arts in Trinity County at one simple location.
You can place it on your computer desktop
(right click on the body of the calendar and then click on "Create
shortcut."), for arts information at your fingertips. You can print calendar
page for a handy reminder of events that you don't want to miss. You can add your class, workshop, meeting, musical or theatrical event,
art show, school's art events, special sale or fund-raiser by going to site and entering your event and related information. Once screened for accuracy, your event will appear on
date of event. Screening can take a few days, so send info as early as possible. You can store events up to a year ahead.
Guidelines for listing your event: Listing
must include
the following info: Name & type of event, location & time of
event, duration of event, charge for event (if donations are accepted,
mention that too),
sponsor of event (if any), as well as contact person's name &
telephone #. You may add additional details (subject to editing). Although Susan Holthaus is no longer Director of the Arts Council, she
will be volunteer administrator of calendar for awhile. Please give feedback on how the calendar is working for you. If you have entered events that haven't appeared in
calendar after a few days, please contact Susan. A couple of things to remember:
once you enter date, time etc., you should click once over in gray
area, or it may accidentally scroll and change that information. If
event does not have an ending time, you can click on 0 (hours) as
duration. If event repeats each week or month,
enter it on next date that it will occur, and then go to "this event
repeats" and enter the day(s) of the week, etc. You can highlight
title of event by choosing a color. Remember to hit "save", or the
event will never appear.

TRINITY COUNTY ARTS COUNCIL (TCAC) HISTORY: How TCAC transitioned from a county entity to a
volunteer-based non profit organization:
~ April/May 2004: During TCAC budget negotiations, Jim Cudziol, TCAC director,
opted to eliminate his paid position at TCAC, in order to help alleviate budget problems and maintain TCAC services.
~ May/June 2004: Trinity County decided to release TCAC as a county
entity at end of fiscal year, on June 30, 2004. TCAC board members
began work to keep the Arts Council’s doors open. RC&D Council
became an umbrella for TCAC. Board
created a business entity to take over the fiscal aspects of running
the Arts Council.
~ June 30, 2004: TCAC is no longer a county entity.
~ July 1: Trinity County Arts Council Association (TCACA) officially
took over the running of TCAC. Volunteers worked to keep the Arts
Council’s doors
open and made plans to reform into a non-profit corporation.
~ July 19, 2004: Meeting and discussion with Rural Arts Guild & Gallery
concerning a possible merger with TCACA, to create one non-profit Arts
Council serving all of Trinity county. Emphasis
to be placed on continuing previous services, especially working with
children and youth, and on making it a truly countywide arts council.
~ August 2, 2004: RAGG passed a resolution to amend bylaws and do paperwork involved in
merging with
TCACA. Subsequent non-profit corporation would adopt the name of Trinity County Arts Council. RAGG name
would be used to refer to former RAGG board, which would become a Hayfork Regional Committee of TCAC, as a model for future
regional committees.
~ February 2005: Due to various reasons, RAGG board of directors decided NOT to
merge with TCACA. TCACA board was informed at their next meeting. Rachel
continued to attend TCACA meetings for several more months.
~ TCACA has since achieved it's non-profit status and is now known as Trinity County
Arts Council (TCAC). Donations are most welcome and are
tax-deductible. They continue to hold monthly art openings and receptions.
