Rick completed
his first-ever oil painting in January 2010, a simple front
view of the Wagner House, in which there are the offices of KHSU radio.
They were having a contest. Rick entered the painting
and won a prize, but the main thing was to
learn how to use oils. It was exhibited during Eureka
Arts Alive! and a similar event in Crescent City. KHSU
has scanned the painting and will sell prints of it to their listeners.
Revised since this photo (he changed a perspective detail on the

Vincent Van Gogh's
Mme Gachet painting. Gachet was Van Gogh's doctor, and in the portrait
of his wife, Van Gogh portrayed her in a long white dress. This pianist
is based on a life-drawing model in the same pose. This painting is in
the collection of artist Ajit
Chauhan who has been featured in a solo exhibit at Jack Hansel Gallery
in New York, and has concluded his third exhibit of fine ink

sculpture/construction. About 12" x 12' x 8". A driftwood tree-root and
part of the "faux fossils" theme, from the
Jurassic Period, "compressed by massive geological forces" into a

materials, in this
case a flower pot, a truck spring, a lazy susan plate, and a "beanie"

"Proof of Evolution I: Pygmy Steer"
faux fossil sculpture/construction. Made of driftwood. About 6" square.
Mounted on board embossed with Chinese pictograph for Peace.
"Proof of Evolution II:
Radioactive Pygmy Deer" faux fossil. Made of brass and iron
on a cherry wood stand, soldered by Tim Anderson. "Age 2.5 million
years, unearthed near Las Vegas".
"Disproof of
Evolution: Petrified War Ribbon" unearthed near the cave
paintings of South Central France, aged 25-30,000 years, proof that
this species, at least, has not evolved much since pre-historic
times. Iron band folded more or less like today's yellow or pink
ribbons. About 3" high in a 10" square wooden frame.
"Ghost Surfer,"
two pieces of Lake Tahoe-area gnarled rootwood scraps conjoined into a
headless figure, mounted on antique trophy plaque. About 24" high
but rises at a slant.
